Who Are Inspiring Community?
Working with young people and communities in Wakefield, West Yorkshire
In 2011 we set up Inspiring Community as a not for profit community interest company. We work with young people and communities West Yorkshire. We have projects running in Wakefield and Calderdale. Take a look at the cool and inspiring things that we have been getting up to recently in our community.
Our Team
All our staff are fully qualified in youth work and training and accreditation. We have a bank of part time workers who work to a high standard supporting full time staff. All staff have a current enhanced DBS.
Mick
My name is Mick Harrison I am a director and co-founder of Inspiring Community. I have been a youth worker since 2005. I studied BA Hons in Youth and Community Development at Leeds Metropolitan University. I worked for Wakefield council youth services as a youth and community development worker. My experience includes working with vulnerable young people who were not in education, employment or training and disadvantaged through location and poverty in settings including generic youth work, intensive alternative to education and employment support.

I am a part-time member of the team and previously worked on the lottery funded project called Make it Happen. I have a level 2 qualification in youth work and am lead worker in the Junior youth club based at Portobello community centre.
